Used permissions: Phone state: Used to pause during a call. Otherwise it would only be muted by the system. Wake lock: So the playback isn't stopped when you turn off the screen. Also for some optional features like disabling the auto screen off during playback. Disable keyguard: In case you only want to use the app's lock screen. (And not return to the default one afterwards.) Write/delete external storage: For some internal files in \.MortPlayer, e.g. cached folder covers from ID3 tags and track order lists. Internet: Ads (AdMob) Boot completed: To reschedule the alarm clock after boot. Tasks: For "StopService" activity, to avoid the system returns to player afterwards

I've been using this audiobook player since it first came out. As far as I'm concerned it does everything it needs to. Great app. It hasn't been supported since 2012 and I'm surprised it's lasted this long. It has a bug that causes it to crash, but you can work around it.

Was good while it lasted. Scroll down. Last update: July 2012. It has everything I personally need - I'm not a fancy tagging meta-whatever user. I just copy audio files over to it's folder, refresh folder data, and carry on. Now that crashing bug is here. And strangeness in the folder it points to. I have old stuff I want to delete but cannot. The folders appear empty and don't show up on my list within the app. Or I will copy a folder over like normal, from pc to phone via usb, and it seems to copy. But I can't access the folder for some reason - within MortPlayer. I can't tell what the difference is between those folders and the others. So basically I can't play all the audios I want, for some reason. They play fine on PC. It is with trepidation that I move along - I don't trust half these apps with their spammy adds and everything being subscription-based. My phone runs hot while turned off - I remove whatever I just installed. I'll miss this little guy's face, but it's time to find another solid audiobook player with a chill interface yet feature rich.

True, it hasnt been updated in quite some time & some people may call that a "dead" app, but we need to ask ourselves why thats the case. It isnt because the dev gave up because when it comes to playing audiobooks it has great premium features like holding your place for when you come back to the app and it does everything you *need* for playing audiobooks and probably everything you *want* too! All in all It may not have EVERYTHING you want but has everything you NEED, for a free app its 5\5

No longer functional due to constant crashes. I used this for audio books, podcasts, lectures, etc happily for many years, but sometime in the last few months, it broke (I assume thanks to an Android update). It's still technically usable, but the app crashing every time you navigate between tracks makes it too much of a hassle to bother with. I need to find a good alternative.

I've been running this app for what feels like two metric bazillion hours, while pestering every time I launch it. I've just come to realize that I only kept it out of habit. Now, 8 years of heavy use later, I have to admit, this podcast-playing app does the job of playing podcasts, but sucks at being an app. I feel relieved and reborn as I finally free myself and uninstall this junk from my phone. The future starts now!
