Instead of running up the frequency and going to beyond human hearing and staying there, it's on a short loop and repeats every minute or so. This means you need to turn down the volume so it doesn't blast you out of the room. As it runs through the frequencies it can make your ears bleed. Can the mice hear it? Maybe. But right now it's been going for several hours butted up to a wall about three feet away from where I have been hearing the mouse, and he's determined to get in n matter what. This has not repelled the mouse. It's still there trying to chew its way into my kitchen. But it is bothering me -- even at low volume and in a closet I can still hear it and so can the cat. My guess is, per the literature, ultrasonic frequencies don't do a thing to repel mice for more than a few minutes. There is little evidence that any sound repels rodents. So, maybe not the app's fault that it doesn't repel mice but at least the app was free. Don't get it because you think it will work to get rid of mice, but if you want to drive a human crazy it would probably work like a charm at full volume!
