This is a very good Music app, however I wish that it would write tag data to the actual files. I have spent an inordinate amount of time tagging all my music (about 1500 tracks) and adding cover art which obviously goes into a database. It should be possible for this database to be backed up and be exportable - what if I wanted a new phone? I would lose all my tags and cover art! It was a huge amount of work taking several months to complete. The best option would be to integrate a tag editor.

I use a recording app (ASR recorder) that is able to export files automatically from there to the music library . I've recorded 5 files in past 3 days on the ASR recorder. I've kept checking "newly added" playlist on the Sony Music app. Nothing. Then again it might be the fault of the other app. IDK Update :issue above sorted itself. 2nd problem I noticed is how files get put into an autogenerated album based on where I imported them from. I have to change the details manually to fit playlists

Every time I open the app, a notification pops up instructing me to allow notifications. No, I don't want notifications and I definitely don't want to be nagged every time. Why make it so infuriating? All it needs to do is play my music, but now I need to find an alternative.

No multi select on the app. So if I want to make a new playlist and I want all my songs from one particular artist I have to go one by one. It asks for permission every time I want to add a song to a playlist as well, and I have given the app every permission I can. Good for a base music app but still garbage but hey no ads

No gapless playback supported. Unintuitive UX - not like Samsung Music app. Please sort by album artist .

Unworthy of a renowned music company! It is very basic, easy to navigate, that's fine. BUT after 5 years of use I finally got fed up with the constant repairing of metadata messed up by the app (every other music player reading my metadata without problem) - especially non-English alphabet, where special letters get replaced all the time with random Chinese symbols... Sony seriously needs to improve upon the current state of this player, even by taking a look at other popular music players!
