I loaded this app onto a Samsung 12-inch tablet and a Galaxy S3 phone. The tablet crashes as described elsewhere as soon as one tries to specify the storage card for the data and though the Quo program on the laptop says that it has transferred the maps to the phone and the titles are there in red on the screen I cannot get the thing to recognize that they are there despite following the instructions for activating them. I contacted Mapyx who tell me that they are trying to sort the problems. I now find that if the phone tries to run the app that it then crashes the phone and a reboot has to be done to get control back. I suggest not going with this app until ALL the issues are sorted. Pity because the computer version is extremely good. Several days on and yet another version, 2.6, of Quo and at long last the tablet version is up and running. Next to try and sort the mobile phone to complete the euphoria! Only downside now is that transfer of routes or maps from the computer to the mobile device takes quite a long time to the extent that one needs to go and do something else whilst it all happens. Meanwhile, thanks to Mapyx for getting on with sorting the issues.

With a bit of help from technical support I succeeded in getting all the OS GB maps (25k, 50k, 250k) working on my phone and tablet. Fortunately I worked out how to do this without multiple downloads from the internet which would have pushed me past my monthly broadband allowance. Having found out how to record tracks and lock the screen on the current position, this allows a constant view of a map on the car dashboard (without needing to touch the phone) - an improvement to the tracking would be to show an arrow in the direction of movement, rather than just show the current position. Other things that could be improved: i) speed of loading - takes quite a few seconds to show maps after launch (admittedly I have a lot of maps loaded!) ii) shut-off of GPS after exit - the GPS is sometimes left running after exiting the App and if I did not manually shut it down this would run the battery down quickly. iii) Sometimes the App sticks on checking sync on opening - I think this is when there is a poor mobile signal. I don't see any need to check sync on opening, as this is an activity that only needs to be done by request

Not worth paying a fiver for in my opinion. On Android on my Samsung J5 I've had several crashes. Startup of the app unexpectedly asks for data storage location even though you've previously set this at installation. So you try to set it again and find that it doesn't register and the app crashes thereafter every time. You don't want this happening out in the field. So, you are forced to reinstall and lose all the maps you had stored, and have to go through the whole process of re-syncing them again. Tedious and convoluted or what! There is an OS equivalent app which is much less buggy. Also, when I reinstalled recently (for the reasons given above) the GPS function didn't work. What use is the app without that?

Quo does not recognize my Samsung S6 as a MXMapMobile enabled device. Also had significant trouble updating to 2.5.9 Quo and eventually had to uninstall and do a clean load. Even then it doesn't recognize any connected device. Hopefully Mapyx can quickly resolve this issue as I really want to be able to use this mobile software.

V 1 4 0 155 The only good thing about old version was the full-screen map view. Now we have lost lots of the top of the screen for accessing the negligible functionality. In landscape view you lose a third of the screen. GPS still doesn't work unless you have a full fix before starting, and it still takes an insane amount of time to load. And suprise, after a days grace, it starts crashing again regardless of power save settings. How do I roll back to the previous version?

This is a very basic app - no trip computer, no compass, no speed, no time, and even the records of your track are not detailed because it stops recording when the screen is off, even though this is essential to save the battery; when you open the screen again it just draws a straight line from the last position. This app bears no comparison to other apps, like View ranger, which does all these things and more – and is FREE. Also, VR uses the very good, Open Street Map range which cover the whole world, even if not as detailed as OS maps in the UK. Like almost all others who have commented, I had a great deal of trouble getting it to connect in the first case – it took many emails, hours of frustration and a very long phone call before Mapyx finally managed to get my device ‘Activated’. The £5 cost just cannot be justified. Mapyx say that they will be adding more functions but that remains to be seen – on experience I wouldn’t hold your breath!
