Never heard of NaviLens codes before. Saw one on a pack of Alpen. Did some research and downloaded the app. It is lightening fast at reading the code. I've tried it in different lighting conditions. Even with light reflecting off the code, and it can still be read from about 45 cm away. That's a code that's only 2 cm by 2 cm. It's not perfect but far, far better than a QR code.

Yuck. Why is MTA investing in a whole barcode infrastructure when QR codes are widely available? Who's getting his hairy paws greased?

Cannot enter a code using the keypad, so in case of scanning error there's no way to get the info. Feedback form is broken as well, "Unexpected error" without any detail on the reason.

The app is useless. You need to scan the qr code which is at the tram stop to see what time the tram will arrive, which makes no sense, because the point is that I want to be able to check the tram schedule before I arrive to the station.
