Comments on droidVNC-NG VNC Server for Android

★★★★★ Tim Baverstock · Feb 17, 2024

Works well for my phone! Unfortunately, my actual use case was trying to send my wife's Chromebook screen (actually a £3 HDMI dummy screen) to her old Mac to use it as a second screen. The Mac's Screen Sharing window authenticated and had the right dimensions for whichever of the native or dummy display I selected to send, but only displayed plain black. I'm sure that's not your fault though! I ended up using x-mirage and cast tab/screen.

Been looking for a VNC Server for Android for many years. This one works without root. Simply amazing!

★★★★★ Eagle Shortforest · Mar 21, 2023

This is a great VNC server for an Android phone. It can cast your phone easily and can be received by any other device using a vnc viewer. Set up is easy.

★★☆☆☆ Ross Little · May 19, 2026

Okay but you can't tell it which network interface to bind to. Which means if you have a vpn like tail scale you can't tell it to bind just to that interface. Instead, it binds to all interfaces. Even those publicly exposed.

★☆☆☆☆ Dana Nutter · May 7, 2025

It works until it doesn't! It connects and does what I want but as soon as the screensaver locks, it's just a blank screen with no way to unlock so useless since I have to go get the phone anyway.

★★☆☆☆ Jeann van Rooyen · Feb 21, 2024

Quite complicated setup, then - rather lacking in responsiveness. Even premium phone, WiFi6, etc. Seen better from Phone Link, Team Viewer, etc.

★★☆☆☆ Calin Marinescu · May 28, 2023

Nice to know it works, but useless without it working over mobile data connection 😞
