FINALLY!!! A Dev who Gets It! Tried every Android music player app out there to date, in search of The One that is Simple. CLEAN. As bug free as possible. And prioritizes local file & folder playback of music stored on your phone internal storage, internal sd card and usb stick plugged into phone. Period. This one checks all the boxes and then some, like Android Auto support. Well done

Where have you been all my life?! Fold play plays music from my folders - which is exactly what I need and want. It supports FLAC, and it solves the issue with Pixel 8 stopping at end-of-track when playing over Bluetooth! Just switch Fold play to use the Exoplanet (in Fold play settings) and the problem is gone.

During playback subsequent songs play with zero volume until I pause and resume playback. This happens both with Bluetooth and wired connections.

There is no way to delete the entire recently played list ore song by song deletion. The only way to delete the recently played list is to delete the data of yhe app. 😩

While it's a minimalistic app supporting the playing of folders, I changed my 5* I to a 1* after finding out that Fold play caused unstable Bluetooth connectivity that was ruining my music experience for months. Avoid this app, at least if you're using high-end noise-cancelling headphones; I use Bose and Bowers&Wilkins and both are great brands, but didn't work properly under Fold play. Other music players work fine.
