Comments on NETGEAR Nighthawk WiFi Router for Android

My experience with Nighthawk routers has been nothing but fantastic. Easy to set up, broadcasts my Wi-Fi better than what comes with my IPS, sleek look, excellent admin options. Mine have worked consistently for years. I always luck out and happen to need one when they are on sale at Best Buy.

So far so good. I was terribly worried about installing the new router. It was fairly easy to install and start up. The anguishing part was connecting my devices to it. It was surprisingly easy. Thank you, Netgear!
★★★★☆Mark Peterson· Oct 4, 2026
Manual setup was fairly easy. It did take about 20 minutes to complete

I DO NOT want the NETGEAR Nighthawk Wi-Fi Router app on my phone!!!!!!!!! I came to this sight to get it on my computer, but all of a sudden -- bam. It is now being downloaded to my phone

Sent out another update. Now it won't connect at all, then when it eventually does it won't let me block or unblock devices on the network. Even the genie access with a pc is slow and takes about 2 minutes to go to the access control panel. Netgear lost my business

Prantel controls stops working ever 4 to 6 weeks. The only thing support suggests is a factory reset. It is a pain to have to do a factory reset and reconfiguration every month. Update: I just opened another ticket because prantel controls stopped working, and they told me to do another factory reset.

Nighthawk routers (when working) are excellent. But if you're using this app to change any settings, God have mercy on your soul, and good luck. This app will not/cannot change settings. The router is Unresponsive, inconsistent, and shows inaccurate information. If this is the best net gear has to offer.... Might be time to change routers.
