The NorthStar ACE® IQ App communicates with NorthStar ACE® batteries that are equipped with an integrated chip with a sensor using Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) connection. The Bluetooth communication enables you to remotely, at a distance of up to 100 feet, check the status of the batteries. The App automatically and continuously synchronizes data from the battery sensor, ensuring the most up-to-date and accurate information is displayed. No more hassling with wires! Why location permission? An OK app, but will not function unless permission to location is granted - why? Is Northstar planning to offer location specific services? If location permission is denied, the app will not connect to the batteries, once location permission is granted - the app connects to batteries right away. Otherwise, it's a nice app providing useful real-time data from the battery along with historical graph
