Description
NTFS Reader is a USB drive file manager for Android. Open and read NTFS-formatted external hard drives, SSDs and USB flash drives, and fully read AND write exFAT USB drives and portable SSDs — directly on your phone or tablet. Plug in through a USB-C or USB-OTG adapter and browse your files. No root. No computer. No account. No ads.
Windows formats most external hard drives and large USB sticks as NTFS, while cameras, drones, SD cards and portable SSDs use exFAT — and Android can't reliably open either on its own. NTFS Reader fixes that with its own NTFS and exFAT filesystem engines and its own USB storage stack, so it works with a wide range of drives, OTG adapters and card readers without rooting your device.
WORKS WITH • NTFS external hard drives, SSDs and USB flash drives (read) • exFAT USB drives and portable SSDs (read + write) • SD cards and microSD through a USB card reader (read + write on exFAT) • BitLocker To Go encrypted USB drives (read) • Multi-partition drives and drives larger than 2 TB • USB-C phones and tablets, and USB-OTG adapters Note: NTFS Reader connects over USB / OTG — the drive or card reader plugs into your phone. It does not read the phone's built-in SD-card slot.
WHAT YOU CAN DO • Browse every folder like a normal file manager / file explorer • Copy files and folders from the drive to your phone, with a progress bar, transfer rate and time-remaining estimate (and a Cancel button) • Preview without copying first: photos (pinch-to-zoom and swipe), music, and video streamed straight off the drive • Open any file in another app with "Open with…", or Share it straight from the drive • Search within a folder, and sort by name, size or date • See folder details — item counts and size on disk • Show or hide hidden and system files with a single setting • Pick files straight off the drive in other apps (Gmail attachments, etc.) through Android's system file picker
WRITE TO exFAT DRIVES — FREE exFAT is full read AND write, even in this free app: create folders, rename, move, delete, and copy or upload files onto an exFAT USB drive or SSD (or an SD card in a USB card reader) directly from your phone. Writes are crash-safe — a mid-write disconnect leaves the drive recoverable, never silently corrupted.
UNLOCK BITLOCKER DRIVES Got a USB drive that Windows encrypted with BitLocker To Go? Unlock it right on your phone with the password or 48-digit recovery key and browse it like any other drive — no Windows PC needed. Reading BitLocker drives is free. (To write to them, see NTFS Reader Pro.)
