This single app is your pocket guide to Japanese. It has notes on grammar/sentence structure and teaches hiragana, katakana and kanji for FREE. It teaches stroke order and can adjust to your handwriting, and still allows for character recognition tests and number tests. Just supplement it with Hawaii Nihongo (grammar), Wanikani/todaii (reading) and some extra vocab, and you're set to learn. You can disable ads and analytics. The developer deserves a lot more credit than he's getting for this app.

I would love to give 5 stars but the app is broken on samsung fold devices. I gladly change the rating if this ever changes.

Need optimization in kanji-vocab interface. Ex: we must scroll down again after click vocab in kanji screen page (the view is resetting, that's very annoying) need shortcut for kanji into the relatable vocab, need hiragana search for kanji. After reply I will grade up the star, overall is ok

I love this app. I really do. Sadly, its minor recognition bugs pale in comparison with the unpreventable progress-erasing bug I keep encountering when practicing kanji draw. Not sure where to post screenshots and a detailed explanation, nor if the developer cares at this point, but it really is a bummer.
