Comments on Ola Radio for Android

★★★★☆ Nicolás M. Vela · Feb 7, 2026

Not very user-friendly and the UV 5RT Plus is not listed. I hope they add it soon. Good app overall

★★★★★ Dáithí O'Sioradáin · Jul 29, 2026

Brilliant tool for programming a Baofeng Mini 5. Easy to use and very versatile with cable or Bluetooth options.

★★★★★ Dusty Burns · Jun 22, 2026

Works well with the UV 32, only downside is I can't figure out how to add more channels, so I have to go to zone3 and over write my settings. The good thing is you can save your settings before you make the changes and then revert them back later

★★★★★ martin haschke · Apr 16, 2026

I have read many really bad reviews, but decided to try it anyway. I have successfully connected with both UV-5r Mini with no problems and am able to program successfully!!

★☆☆☆☆ john graesser · Jul 23, 2026

Bought 6 5r minis to donate to new hams, even with radio held next to phone it still times out when attempting to connect, is there a limit to the number of radios the app can connect to? I have Bluetooth on, radio fully charged, what am I missing? Could it be a neighbor's Bluetooth devices are drowning out the radios? I got the app to work with my uv32, is there just a trick to the 5r mini?

★☆☆☆☆ Tyler Swanson · Apr 8, 2026

I should not have to make an account to program or update my radio.

★☆☆☆☆ Brent C · Aug 1, 2026

I'm able to connect, read and make changes and write changes back to the radio. 2 stars because I can't save my Mini-5 info to the phone because of the password issue when trying to register with Ola. Oops one star now because when I saved my changes, all my Hairband channels were deleted. Glad I had a backup in RT Systems.

★☆☆☆☆ Jay Garcia · Feb 5, 2026

Why does the app prevent saving of Hairband when the radio is capable of receiving it? I had to save airbands manually.

★☆☆☆☆ Conrad Blake · Mar 5, 2026

Like other have said, having to make an account to log in to and use Bluetooth to program a radio has got to be the biggest "we want to sell and scrape your phone for data" red flag out there.
