Gives me everything I need. Paired with the Dexcom app all I need is my android phone to stay on top of my BG levels, Bolus, and POD changes. Sweet.
Works great on Pixel 7 Pro and Android 14. Switched from controller and app is same interface. No issues so far after a few pod changes. Really love having everything on my phone now!
Now, I'll be honest. It works great. I've had no technical issues maintaining the connections as some have had in the past. And hey I get to carry around just my phone to manage my diabetes. It's pretty nice. The one thing that is completely obnoxious is the amount of alerts this thing gives. For someone like me who manages their diabetes well - no we don't need the pod screeching along with the phone notifications to tell us our pod has low insulin etc. For the love of God let us disable it.
I've been using the Controller/PDM since starting with Omnipods shortly after they came to market. I'm on a Pixel 6 Pro and with the recent PDM recall, I decided see if my phone was now compatible. Imagine my delight when learning that my device was now compatible! So far, so good. Nothing exceptional to report. I don't know what the future holds, but I'm going to put automatic OS updates on pause (except for security updates) and I'll let you know how things go every couple of months.
Does what it is supposed to, right up until the time you get ANY updates to your phone, then it stops working, and you lose a pod and have to go back to the PDM until Insult gets their subpar development team to update it. Almost not even worth using especially on newer devices that are still in the update cycle. They need to do better.
Omnicom 5 app notifications are TOO LOUD!!! AND REDUNDANT! The app notifications cannot be controlled on Android phone. Why?!?! With the dedicated Omnicom controller, I could control volume, and silence or vibrate every notification that I needed, so why not the same settings on a mobile phone? This app over-rides all phone notifications and volume settings. Setting up a new pod is ridiculous. Every time you acknowledge a step, it gives a useless, LOUD sound that wakes up the whole neighborhood.
I still can't give this app a better review. It finally started working on my phone, but on the 2nd day of a new pod, it suddenly said "device not compatible with the app". It was fully functioning just the other day and no recent updates had been made with the app nor my phone! Now, I can't even stop the current pod to discard it. I have to manually do it by breaking the seal on the back. AND why can't you easily switch from using the app to the pdm or vice versa without having to change pods?!
