I liked RedPhone the way it was but now the developer has moved to a combined app called Signal which isn't as good in my opinion. Signal supposedly combines the features of RedPhone and a secure messenger into one app. The only way it seems to make a secure call is within the messenger. Maybe I don't get it but Signal is not intuitive enough for me and I'm uninstalling it. I'll give RedPhone 4-stars in the hopes it is brought back.

Volume issues on Galaxy Avant Update: the volume issues appear to have been fixed since the move to signal. Fantastic! ------------------ Old Review: It's a really good app, but my biggest complaint is that I can't really use it since the volume is so quiet on my phone that I can't hear the other person. Seems to be specific to phone hardware or something because it works on other types of phones. Oh and if I make a regular phone call the volume is loud and clear so I know it is related to this app.

What happened! Red phone was just fine the way it was. I fiddled with the new version blended with secure texting and could never figure out how to make a phone call. Hello anybody out there? Also how can you delete contacts that you don't have anymore?. Seems like you took a good idea and made it worse!

Don't install signal private Redphone is not available anymore. Only links to Signal app. And It doesn't make voice calls. Just for sms!
