Description
Signal is a messaging app with privacy at its core. It is free and easy to use, with strong end-to-end encryption that keeps your communication completely private.
• Send texts, voice messages, photos, videos, GIFs, and files for free. Signal uses your phone’s data connection, so you avoid SMS and MMS fees.
• Call your friends with crystal-clear encrypted voice and video calls. Group calls supported for up to 50 people.
• Stay connected with group chats up to 1,000 people. Control who can post and manage group members with admin permission settings.
• Share image, text, and video Stories that disappear after 24 hours. Privacy settings keep you in charge of exactly who can see each Story.
• Signal is built for your privacy. We know nothing about you or who you’re talking to. Our open source Signal Protocol means that we can’t read your messages or listen to your calls. Neither can anyone else. No back doors, no data collection, no compromises.
• Signal is independent and not for profit; a different kind of tech from a different kind of organization. As a 501c3 nonprofit we are supported by your donations, not by advertisers or investors.

Recent changes: ★ The media editor has been completely redesigned to better support tablets and foldable devices, and now it looks great on screens of all sizes. ★ The new media editor also supports removing the audio track from a video before you send it. If the pastoral slow-panorama footage from your vacation to Scotland was partially ruined by the sound of wandering sheep, with just one tap your movie can become the silence of the lambs.

The only good messenger Super transparent, with plenty of blog posts explaining how the encryption works etc., owned by a non-profit, very secure, privacy-friendly and has all features I need. Has been working flawlessly for me so far.

Way better than MMS! I love the focus on privacy. Has much better features than regular MMS or even RCS. Messaging is reliable and fast. Photos and videos are better quality. Read receipts, better privacy and encryption are nice. No ads or paid upgrade nagging. Easy backups/restore! The UI could use a little more polish though. Sometimes feels a bit dated for some reason.

The in-app experience is secure and efficient, and the public profiles of the company and key executives are reassuring. At a time of increasing online threat and insecurity Signal offers a haven of personal privacy

I'm trying to register on Signal, but it's not sending verification code, the call me button isn't working either
★★☆☆☆Dusty Bojangles· Aug 26, 2026
Private app? Seems funny you start off with 1 person to have private chat with then end up with 3-4 people who you haven't even chatted with or don't know? Don't seem to private to me n my family business

I was working in Copilot when a page wouldn't close. I tried 4 times but no luck. I tried to close the app and it froze. When I asked for help the CoPilot suggested I resign in. It would not let me. So I was asked for a code, but I am deaf and the code was sent through a phone message. I was told to ask for a non-audio code but here I am not knowing who wants it.
