Pétanque Game is a boules game in 3D, like a match on the village square, in the shade of the plane trees. The boules roll, bounce and knock each other away as they do for real, the ground has its slopes and its stones, and the match is played to 13 points, or to 7 for a quick one, by the rules of pétanque.
It is made for people who play for real: you point, you shoot, you read the ground before you throw. The text is large, and so are the buttons, on a phone or a tablet.
• Throw as you would on the pitch: put a finger on the pad at the height of the throw (roll, half lob, lob, high lob), slide up to set the power, slide left or right to aim, let go. In expert mode, add spin.
• Ground that matters: hard-packed earth, fine gravel, coarse gravel or sand, from smooth to rough. Crouch to read the slopes, or walk up to the head before you play.
• Easy to learn: "How to play" shows the rules in pictures and the throw on the pad. With "Practice", a coach tells you when a boule was too short, too long, left or right. It also helps in your first matches.
• Against the computer: seven levels, from Beginner to Professional, and 24 opponents to choose from, pointers, middles or shooters, each with their strengths. Eight young players, a little stronger, open up when you beat their sponsor, or for coins.
• Two players on one phone, taking turns, or online: "With a friend", a private game through a code, or "Find an opponent" to take on a player online.
• Singles, doubles or triples. In a team against the computer, choose your partners and, for each boule, who plays it: you, or a partner who points or shoots.
• An online ranking for your singles matches against a player found online. Rude names are filtered.
• Leagues: 28 cups per format, the seven levels in Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum. Three knockout matches to 7 points; a cup won brings a trophy and opens the next one. Every week, one Bronze cup is free to enter.
• Three challenges a day that pay coins, a bonus for all three and another when you come back to play. Achievements and your stats: kisses of the jack, carreaux, 13-0 wins…
• Boules with a character of their own: 14 models, from 650 to 790 g, from 71 to 79 mm, soft, medium or hard. A heavy one resists stones, a soft one sticks where it lands, a hard one runs on: none is better everywhere. Jacks, throwing circles and a prestige collection to shine on the square.
• Your player: choose among twelve men and women, your name and the outfit your whole team wears. In the circle, each player has their own little ritual before throwing, and at the end the winners raise their arms.
• Five kinds of scenery: the village square, by day or at dusk, the country ground, the harbour and the château courtyard. Gentle music and the sounds of the place: cicadas, waves, crickets in the evening.
• Right- or left-handed, view from behind the player or first person, distance rings, sound and music levels, animations you can skip, light or dark menus in the colours of the square, the sea or the lavender.
• In French, English, Spanish, German and Italian.
The game is free, with ads: at most one ad every two free matches, and optional videos that give coins. The game asks for your consent before any ad; without it, you play as usual, with no ads. "No ads" removes the ads between matches. Coins can also be bought, but everything that costs coins can be earned by playing.
Against the computer, two on one phone and in practice, you play without internet and without an account. Coins, the shop, the leagues, online play and the ranking need internet and an account, so you keep your progress on another phone. You can delete your account at any time in Options.
