It seems that I can't find a button to open PDF files downloaded from your server in another app. I use an e-ink PDF reader and find that the reading experience is not well compatible enough for my reader.

This app is pretty useful for syncing PDFs between devices, and tracking annotations and citations. I almost didn't install it because the icon, in my opinion, makes it look like some kind of corporate garbage built by an under-motivated contractor. I'd really suggest changing it; the old Papers icon for macOS was quite good and gave an impression of design quality. My only complaint about the app itself is that it doesn't have location syncing across devices.

I use this app to centralize my paper recommendations instead of getting dozens of feeds from various journals and I export my findings to End Note. Works very well for the energy storage field, covers the major journals. I like that the app is integrated with Overleaf as well. The app and website are still works in progress, but I find I'm able to work around missing features with what's there already (e.g., flagging most recently downloaded paper, so I don't download the reference again). However, a future update NEEDS to address predatory journals which show up in recommendations. These journals and/or publishers should be screened out using Beall's list or another source.

The android version is super lagging. It's OK since I use desktop version mostly. Warning: I have privacy concern for their desktop version. It scans my hard disk and sends out information every second. You may want to check your computer as well. I submit tickets to them a couple of times and was told it's because my windows' security scan the PDF. However, 1. My windows' security is inactive, and my antivirus ESET has zero disk or network use. 2. when computer in idle, "read cube or papers" is the only app using CPU, DISK or network that makes me even unable to video chat. (It takes most of my 5 m upload speed/100 m download speed) 3. My computer becomes hot and battery drains pretty fast. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is the ticket I submit after I complain a couple of times without any proper solution. Some previous versions consume CPU/GPU once they are in the background, which I can still tolerate. This version sends out something all the time taking most of my upload bandwidth regardless in the background or not. Let me make it clear: this raises my privacy concern and network has nothing to do with antivirus. I even get problems to video chat with my mentor and send email with attachments. And “papers” is the only app running all the time (no PDF sync at all) in the background taking either CPU, disk or network every second. My windows' defender is inactive all the time (scanning option is off) and my antivirus is ESET which shows no evidence of disk or even network consuming (attached for your reference). Only papers scan my disk! Again my primary point is not how many resources “papers” takes, but it alerts me this app compromises the privacy of my computer by scanning my computer and send out information. Secondly, continuously scanning makes my computer runs hot and battery drains fast in idle.

Logged in and research article I had paid for was not in my library, garbage app.
