PAUT Weld Planner

PAUT Weld Planner helps NDT technicians and Level II / III inspectors think through a phased array ultrasonic (PAUT) scan plan before they pick up the probe - right on the phone in their pocket.

PLAN THE WELD
• Draw the weld cross-section: single-V, double-V or J-bevel, with HAZ, in mm or inches
• Pick a sectorial scan (S-scan angle range) or an isolated shear-wave beam
• Choose from 16, 32 and 64-element Evident probes with specs checked against the manufacturer's published pages
• Set the wedge angle, front-to-index distance, legs and face tolerance
• Drag the probe across the plate and see which fusion faces, weld volume and HAZ the beam reaches - with the angle and sound path that reach each side

SCAN PLAN
• Animated raster scan: watch coverage build up step by step
• Coverage checklist with pass/fail for each fusion face, the weld volume and the HAZ
• Find the index-offset range you need and the coverage ceiling for your beam
• Email a PDF scan-plan report with job number, weld ID, inspector, the weld diagram, the scan summary and defect results

DEFECTS
• Place lack of fusion, slag, porosity, ID crack, OD crack and centerline crack indications
• Resize and move them, and see whether - and from where - the beam can get an echo

REFERENCE
• Pipe Sizes: ASME B36.10M OD, wall and ID by NPS and schedule, sent straight to the planner
• Codes: an acceptance quick reference for ASME Section VIII Div. 1, B31.1 and B31.3 at your weld thickness, plus an index of where to look in Section V, B31.3, B31.1 and Section VIII
