★★☆☆☆ Direct port leaves much to be desired This seems to be a direct port from the original game. No sound, ascii graphics, scrolling terminal. Could have ported the same gameplay with a few UI improvements. Even EGA Trek plays better than this.
★★☆☆☆ Too much like the original to bother. If you want a faithful reproduction of the crude, cumbersome, snail-paced original, this is the game for you. Why, in reproducing the vertical scrolling of the original, does it use only the top half of the screen, aside from the toolbar at bottom? If you actually want to have a good time playing the old classic under a well-designed modern GUI, get Star Trek Text Game with its excellent collection of music/sound samples from the original TV series, curated with a wry sense of humour.
