Picastro

Picastro — Social media for astrophotography

Picastro is a purpose-built social platform for astrophotographers and astronomy enthusiasts.

No noise. No compression. No algorithms deciding what matters. Just real people, sharing real images of the night sky.

Whether you’re capturing your first star trails or processing a deep 20-hour narrowband image, Picastro gives you a place to share your work, learn from others, and actually enjoy the process.

Your images in full quality. Always!
Astrophotography takes time, patience, and precision. Your images shouldn’t be reduced to blurry, compressed versions of your work. Picastro preserves your images in high resolution — what you upload is what people see.

A real global community — not a content machine.
No bots. No fake accounts. No chasing likes. Picastro is built around a genuine community of astrophotographers who want to share, improve, and support each other. It’s not about attention. It’s about progress.

Learn naturally as you go. Every image on Picastro carries context. With StarCards©, you can see exactly how an image was captured — telescope, camera, filters, exposure time, and more. No gatekeeping. No guesswork. Just real insight from real people.

Built for beginners in astronomy and astrophotography and experts alike.

Starting out? You’ll find a welcoming space where you can share your first images without feeling out of place. More experienced? You’ll discover high-level work, detailed setups, and meaningful discussions. Everyone starts somewhere. Picastro meets you there.

Designed for mobile and tablet. Built for simplicity.
Picastro isn’t a complicated web platform adapted for your phone. It’s a native mobile experience designed to be fast, clean, and easy to use — so you can spend more time exploring the night sky and less time figuring out how to post.
