Description

Somewhere behind this wall a pocket of wet concrete, a heap of gravel and a puddle of very angry tar are all waiting for you to yank the wrong pin. Each metal pin holds one pocket back. A tap pops it loose, and from there gravity runs the show, the spill flowing wherever a spill would flow. The whole craft lives in the order you pull. Useful material belongs down in the mixer; burning tar belongs anywhere else. Tar in the drum, or tar on the poor worker standing nearby, ends the attempt on the spot, and a site grants you three of those. Old hands learn the trick early: bleed the tar off to one side first, then let the concrete and gravel travel in peace. Later jobs complicate the plumbing with forking channels, sliding gates and several materials tangled behind the same pins. It opens with three pins and an obvious answer, and it does not stay obvious for long. Which pin goes first?
