PitchGun: Baseball Speed Gun

Two video frames and you're done. How fast was your pitch today?

No radar gun needed. Tap the frame where the ball leaves the hand (release) and the frame where it hits the catcher's mitt, and PitchGun works out the speed from the frame gap, the video's fps and standard field distances.

■ Three measurement modes

· Pitch speed: from release to the mitt. Choose the mound-to-plate distance: Adult/Pro (60 ft 6 in), Youth 16 m, 13U/Pony 54 ft, Little League 46 ft or Softball 43 ft.
· Pop time: from the catcher's catch to the glove at second base. Shows the equivalent speed over the standard home-to-second distance and a reference tier (MLB average, elite and so on).
· Throw time: pick Home→1st, 1st→2nd, 2nd→3rd or 3rd→Home and get the throw time plus its equivalent speed.

■ Record it, or pick from your gallery

Shoot right in the app or import a video you already have. Slow-motion clips from your camera app (120/240 fps) have more frames and give more accurate results. The fps is read automatically from the video.

■ Frame-accurate

Find the moment roughly with the big slider, then nail it with the ±1/±10 frame buttons or by dragging across the picture. Mark the start, then the arrival, and the result appears right away. A short guide shows you how the first time.

■ Results with the math behind them

You don't just get a number. Elapsed time, frame range, video fps and the distance used are shown alongside it so you know where the figure came from. Measure the next pitch from the same video in one tap, and switch between km/h and mph.

■ Today's best, today's average, full history

The home screen shows today's best and average and your latest records at a glance. In History, filter by pitch, pop time or throw to see best, average and count, revisit how each record was calculated, or delete it. Everything is stored only on your device.

■ Daily reminder

A gentle nudge at the time you choose to clock today's pitches. Change the time freely or turn it off.

■ Light and dark themes

Follow the system setting or pick light or dark yourself.

Results are for reference and may differ from a radar gun. Camera angle and distance, how precisely you mark the frames and the video's fps all affect the result.
