Description
69% of Australians don’t know how to identify rip currents, making them the biggest killer on our beaches.
Pocket Patrol is designed to help Australians locate the position of rip currents along with other hazards like submerged rocks and shallow sandbanks, that on-duty surf lifesavers have identified at selected patrolled beaches.
It’s a completely new way to learn about beach safety using the latest in augmented reality and smartphone technology.
Pocket Patrol has been developed by Samsung in partnership with Surf Life Saving Australia and is currently being trialled on selected Sunshine Coast beaches between October 21st and November 13th.

AWESOME Idea Love the concept of this. Can't wait for it to be available on Coolangatta beaches

This is still in test phase. Download to see gui, or if you are in the two spots in Queensland. This can work quite well as the guards can update the beach status and others can see why the flags exist. Hope it's rolled out to all beachs with life guards

Disappointed The idea sounds good but only available at two beaches in Queensland.

Only For Small Part of QLD - Looks Like An Cannes Lion Entry Great idea, but only works on the Sunshine Coast. It would appear to be an award entry for some creative use of technology or the like to win a Canne Lion or similar.
