Hard to use and not intuitive It plays all the tones when you finally find it. You can't use your finger to scroll around the chart. Isn't that what you would expect? I think, going to a pinyin chart website, and using that might be easier. It would also be very helpful to show things like: How 'yan' is actually pronounced the same way as 'bian'. Put it in the same column. Also how 'liu'/'jiu' -> but it used to be spelled 'iou', and it still pronounced 'ee..ou', but the spelling with the 'o' was dropped a few years ago. Helpful hints like these is what makes a pinyin chart really usefull! Edit: I could find no initial 'y'. Words starting with 'Y' are often special cases.

No volume control At least for my phone (Motorola Droid RAZR M) the default volume is MAXIMUM. The side volume button does not control the app volume, just my ringer volume. There is no in-app setting for sound/volume. The pronunciation is good though.
