Pottery Glaze

Master glaze chemistry, simplify complex studio calculations, and eliminate running risks on your ceramic wares. Pottery Glaze is a comprehensive technical companion engineered for potters, ceramic artists, and studio technicians to calculate molecular formulas, analyze material properties, and archive real-world kiln trial results within a structured digital notebook.

Core Features & Mechanics:
Interactive Glaze Library: Start a personalized formula collection from scratch. Create new entries by logging the Recipe Name, assigning descriptive tags (Glossy, Matte, Satin, Celadon, Liner), and defining the targeted Cone Range.

Glaze Chemistry & Seger Analysis: Input custom ingredient percentages to instantly calculate your glaze's chemical breakdown. The application computes the molar charge composition and displays molecular Seger formulas to help you assess chemical stability, predict melting behavior, and prevent running flaws prior to firing.

Comprehensive Oxide & Material Database: Access a built-in material catalog profiling over 80 raw studio materials. Browse, search, and isolate ingredients via quick-select category chips:

Fluxes: Evaluate primary melting agents like Potash Feldspar (Custer), Soda Feldspar (F-4), and Nepheline Syenite.

Stabilizers: Monitor structural binders that control viscosity and glaze melt retention.

Glass Formers: Track primary silica networks that construct the underlying glass structure.

Test Firing Tracker: Keep an illustrated record of your test tiles. Document how recipes react across diverse kiln atmospheres and distinct thermal ranges, preserving clear progress snapshots of surface textures, color shifts, and specific chemical interactions.

Studio Settings & Customization:
Temperature Scales: Calibrate application metrics to match your specific workshop pyrometer setup by toggling between Celsius and Fahrenheit modules.

Automated Firing Reminders: Enable dedicated system prompts to remind you to log and document raw test results the moment you unload the kiln.

Clean Data Management: Clear out unused workspaces using the Clear Draft Recipes button, while keeping your core, verified formulas organized into distinct inventory drawers (All, Glossy, Matte, Satin, Tested).
