Private DNS Changer

Turn Android's Private DNS on and off with one tap, using the provider you chose in advance. No more digging through Settings → Network → Private DNS every time a Wi-Fi network, captive portal or app doesn't get along with it.

★ Before you install: one-time setup with a computer ★
Android only lets an app change Private DNS if it holds the WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS permission, and that permission cannot be granted from the phone's own settings. You grant it once over USB debugging with this command:

adb shell pm grant org.neteinstein.privatednschanger android.permission.WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS

The app shows the command with a copy button. The grant survives reboots and app updates; it is only lost if you uninstall the app or clear its data. No computer? On Android 11 and later you can use Wireless debugging from a terminal app on the phone, or grant it with Shizuku. On Xiaomi / MIUI / HyperOS, also turn on "USB debugging (Security settings)" in Developer options.

HOW IT WORKS
• Pick a provider once: Cloudflare, Cloudflare with malware blocking, Google, Quad9, AdGuard, Mullvad (ad blocking), or any hostname of your own, such as your NextDNS or Control D address.
• Home screen widget: tap to switch between Off and your provider. The wide widget shows the active provider; the small one is just the switch.
• Quick Settings tile: the same switch in the buttons above your notifications. Long-press it to open the app.
• In the app: one big on/off switch, plus Off / Automatic / Hostname if you want the system's other modes.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN
• No internet permission: the app cannot send anything anywhere.
• No account, no ads, no analytics, no tracking.
• It only writes the two system settings Android itself uses for Private DNS. Your DNS queries go from your phone straight to the provider you chose, exactly as if you had set it in Settings.
