Professional Glockenspiel

Professional Glockenspiel 4 puts a concert glockenspiel (orchestral bells) on your phone or tablet: 41 polished steel bars with real recorded sounds, for percussionists, music teachers and students of mallet percussion. Play, learn scales, follow lessons in every key and play along with songs, all offline.

Professional Glockenspiel 4 is a completely new app, rebuilt from scratch. The recordings you made with the old version are imported automatically.

★ A REAL CONCERT GLOCKENSPIEL
• 41 bars, written C3 to E6 (3½ octaves)
• Written pitch, like printed glockenspiel parts: the instrument sounds two octaves higher
• Polished steel bars on felt, graded bar lengths, accidentals raised like the real instrument
• Optional colourful bars, like a student bell kit
• Note names in letters (C D E) or solfège (Do Re Mi), with octave numbers
• Left-handed layout, zoom and scroll the range, one or two ranks of bars

★ PLAY WITH EXPRESSION
• Where you strike a bar sets its loudness, like a real mallet
• Multi-touch: play intervals and chords with several fingers
• Slide for glissandos, hold a bar for a roll (tremolo)
• Sustain pedal: let the bars ring or damp them
• Four-mallet chords of your key with one tap, plus glissando buttons

★ 13 REAL RECORDED SOUNDS
Sampled instruments tuned to A440, played by a low-latency FluidSynth engine:
• Concert glockenspiel with plastic mallets and with brass mallets
• A second glockenspiel recorded in a room, with three dynamics
• Crotales (antique cymbals), celesta, music box, tubular bells
• Vibraphone (motor on and off), xylophone, marimba, kalimba, steel pan
Recordings from the University of Iowa MIS, VCSL and GeneralUser GS.

★ SCALE LENS
15 scales and modes light up on the bars in all 12 keys: major, natural, harmonic and melodic minor, major and minor pentatonic, blues, Dorian, Phrygian, Lydian, Mixolydian, Locrian, whole tone, Hijaz and chromatic. The chord buttons follow your key.

★ 59 SONGS
• Listen: the bars light up as the song plays with a full band
• Play along: the next bar glows and waits for you, and you earn stars
Classical pieces such as Für Elise, Ode to Joy, Morning Mood, In the Hall of the Mountain King, Swan Lake, Canon, Vivaldi’s Spring, Mozart’s Symphony No. 40, Gymnopédie and the Can-Can; mallet showpieces such as The Entertainer, Rondo alla Turca and a Bach prelude; folk and world songs (Sakura, Korobeiniki, Üsküdar’a Gider İken), holiday songs, lullabies and children’s songs. All in the public domain.

★ 36 LESSONS IN EVERY KEY
With the sticking shown: first steps (find middle C, five fingers, accidentals, double strokes), 15 scales, 6 arpeggios, technique (thirds, double stops, octaves, broken chords, trills), rolls and chord progressions.

★ PRACTICE TOOLS
• A band in 10 styles that follows your key: waltz, jig, reel, baroque, bossa nova, classical, ballad, calypso, march and rain
• Metronome from 30 to 240 BPM, with subdivisions and tap tempo
