Comments on Project Gutenberg for Android

★★★★★ Robin Austin · Aug 26, 2026

I absolutely Love it. I particularly enjoy reading classic literature and most popular authors are represented here. They also have magazines. I also use vintage sewing and needlework patterns that can be found in ladies and children's books and magazines. You watch an ad before you go into the app, click at the top right of the page. Items are available in a number of formats.

Project Gutenberg is an excellent resource for anyone who loves reading classic literature. It offers thousands of free eBooks in a wide range of genres, all available without any subscription or hidden fees. The website is simple to use, and downloading books in different formats is quick and convenient. It's a wonderful platform for students, researchers, and book lovers who want access to timeless works by famous authors. Highly recommended for anyone looking for quality free reading material

I love project Gutenberg, but this app is; garbage. Every time I click on anything an ad pops up, usually one pretending to be Project Gutenberg itself, but really trying to sell me something. Then I get a timeout notice. I will delete this app and just use the website instead. Sleezy!

Just a wrapper and basically unusable because of the intrusive ads. You can do just as well with the website alone.
