Pulse & Pause Metronome

Most metronomes click. Pulse & Pause stops clicking — and that's the point.

Built around the Gap Click exercise, it alternates bars of click with bars of
silence. When the click drops out, nothing tells you where the beat is except
your own time. When it comes back, you find out immediately whether you drifted.

It's the most direct way to train an internal clock, and it's uncomfortable in
exactly the way that makes it work.

WHAT YOU GET FREE

• The full Gap Click exercise — click bars and silent gaps, any combination
• 10–300 BPM, with tap tempo
• Time signatures from 2/4 to 7/4
• Six built-in drills, from the classic two-on-two-off to a full density ramp
• A visual loop timeline, so you can see the silence coming — and whether the
gap is truly silent
• Rearrange the click and the gap however you want them
• Two click sounds, and an accent on beat 1

THE EXERCISE

The loop runs through five sections — click, 8ths, triplets, 16ths, gap — each
with its own bar count. Every bar is the same length in every section, so only
the click density changes and the form never moves under you.

Set any section to zero to skip it. That means the same app covers everything
from a plain metronome to a full density ramp into silence.

PULSE & PAUSE PRO — one payment, yours for good

• Density ramp — add 8th, triplet and 16th sections to build up before the gap
• Custom loop order — drag every section, including the dense ones, into any
order you like
• Moving click — the gap keeps a click, displaced onto an off-beat, a
sixteenth, or a triplet position
• Save your own drills and load them back any time
• All seven click sounds
• Silent practice — pulse the screen on every beat with the audio muted

BUILT FOR TIMING

The click is scheduled sample-accurately on a dedicated audio thread, not by a
UI timer. Placement is computed by absolute frame index, so it doesn't drift and
doesn't jitter with buffer size — verified to stay within one frame of ideal
over ten minutes of continuous playback.

That matters more here than in an ordinary metronome. If the click itself wanders,
a timing exercise built on silence is measuring the app instead of you.

NO ADS, NO TRACKING, NO ACCOUNT

Pulse & Pause collects nothing. There's no analytics, no advertising, no sign-in,
and no network access beyond Google Play's own purchase check. Your settings and
presets stay on your device.

For drummers, but not only drummers — anyone who wants their time to hold up when
nothing is holding it up for them.
