Description
Race for the Galaxy is a strategy boardgame where players advance their empire by playing cards to build technological developments or to settle planets. Its core mechanic is a phase choosing game. Players secretly and simultaneously determine which one of seven phases they will lock in, all reveal at once, then execute the phases in order. Will you build an engine to ramp up VP generation on cheapo production planets? Will you invest in exploration and settle rare and valuable VP rich planets? Or will you rush a military conquest to cut off your opponents before they have a chance to develop their strategy.

Great game. Desperately needs the Alien Artifacts -expansion though. Just the cards! It doesn't even need the Orb Module.

Implementation of the card game is excellent. Game flow works well, great that you can always have a counter on opponents VPs. AI is challenging in hard mode. Have played vs AI almost flawlessly for years, but recently something seems to have broken. I'm now getting repeated crashes, which took a full reinstallation to resolve, forcing the loss of thousands of games in my log. Plus just found a bug: AI is given a VP bonus at the start of round even though it has less prestige than me.

FTG is a great game, period. And Eldon's AI does what's very rare, brings in AI that is actually truly hard to beat, without relying on "cheating" or a perfect strategy. I can only recommend it!

Having said that pricing each expansion $3.55 (or the cost of some fully-fledged games) seems outrageous after having paid almost €8.00 for the base game, how the hell do $3.55 become €4.55??? The current exchange rate says it should be €3.00!!! Given that the expansions are pretty much mandatory because otherwise some strategies are just not feasible with only the base game card pool, it means that in order to play the game properly I'd have to pay a staggering total of around €21... No way.

Touchscreen coordinates are WAY off on my 10 tablet. Unplayable. On top of that, tech support is non-existent. NO REPLY to my multiple bug reports abot this issue (on more than one device). Not a great way to treat a PAYING customer.

Crashes nearly every time I discard cards. I'm very disappointed and want a refund. The game is unplayable.
