It's good, but one feature is missing which is to have a lookup dictionary. It would be really helpful if it includes look up dictionary just like Kindle. I hope team will consider this issue and solve it.

I love the voice selections, natural sounding but many times when using it for reading webpages that contain words or short sentences in quotes it doesn't read them out and skips over back into non quoted text. Edit 1.5 yr later still waiting for it to read text inside quotes.

This is amazing app, but the only downside is we are not able to use our own text to speech software it is only using Google default voices which are not so good

FYI: If you're having trouble using this app, go to your Android Accessibility settings and enable the Accessibility shortcut. On my phone there's a volume combo button option. Now you open a News article in your Web browser or News app, then activate your Accessibility shortcut and Reader mode will pop up.

Can't read on document app? I only want to read a text to learn english and its also have huge bug on this android 12, the reading mode stop reopen once you closed it, you have to open it again on accessibility setting. Kinda annoying

2025 & still 💩. Its so unfortunate that Google Android in all these yrs can't care or bring up way to read via voice for dyslexic, partially blind & people suffering from weak eyes despite being such a big company with so many untapped resources at hand when compared to iOS & Apple ecosystem or Microsoft Edge browser immersive reader. This app hardly works anywhere not even on chrome or browsers or news apps. Wonder if Google team has seen anybody challenged or not. NOT UPDATED since Oct '23.

I'm baffled. Reading reviews, both 👍 and 👎, suggests that people are getting this thing to work at all. I'm not! When I open the "app," the ONLY thing I can do is read three vague sentences ... "Start from another app or website. Open content with multiple paragraphs of text, like an article. You can then use the shortcut to open reading mode." There's no menu, just a button after those three sentences labeled "Finish." I tap the button and the app closes. THAT'S ALL IT DOES. 🤨🗑️
