Been using this for a few weeks now, and I can gladly say I have memorized every character for Hiragana and Katakana as well as starting off with Kanji. This app is way faster than using stuff like Duolingo, from my experience (to learn characters at least). Really simple to understand, and clearly focused on learning the writing systems, no unwanted popups, just what you need.

This is an excellent app for starting to learn to write (and by extension read) Japanese. The main feature that I would love to see added would be one where it doesn't snap each stroke to be more "correct" in between strokes. There is a way to make it so that while you are making the stroke it doesn't draw the corrected one, but as soon as I lift my stylus it replaces my stroke with the correct one.

This is a very good app for learning kanji, but I feel that it's missing a key feature. You can select the order you learn from a bunch of presets, allowing you to follow along with popular textbooks, wanikanj, and other sources. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a way insert a kanji into the schedule. If I learn a word outside Ringo tan, it would be helpful if I could manually add its kanji to my reviews. Overall, it's a simple and amazing app. There's no reason to avoid it.

I can't even use this app. Can't even get past the setup. Every time I paste in my WaniKani API key and click "save", the app freezes. I've even tried clearing the app's cache, reinstalling, and I've tried multiple WaniKani API keys. So for now this is a one-star review from me. Having zero functionality for what I need this app for probably only deserves a zero out of ten, but that's not an option. I'm willing to change my review if the developer can get this to actually work.

Developer updated the app with religious allegory, specially one that is committing all sorts of atrocities. Edit: the developer left a dishonest reply, he fails to mention that the santa hat the mascot is wearing has a religious symbol in it and the mascot is also holding a religious object.
