Sacrum Imperium

Europe, 1336. The Hundred Years' War is about to break out, the Golden Horde rules the east, and Byzantium fights for survival. Lead your realm through nearly two centuries of the Middle Ages, to 1510 or for as long as you like.

Sacrum Imperium is a grand strategy game of rule, war and legacy. Every province, ruler and event is historically researched.

Rule your realm
• Start as England, Meissen or the Teutonic Order, or pick another realm on the map of 1336
• Grant fiefs, bind vassals and keep their loyalty
• Bargain with nobles, clergy and burghers over taxes, privileges and laws
• Play the Holy Roman Empire with its emperor, imperial laws and public peace

Wage war
• Raise levies or hire mercenary companies
• Battles with flanks, front and reserves, where every troop type has its strengths
• Besiege castles and towns; bring guns to speed things up
• Build town walls and castles and watch them appear on the map once they stand

Build wealth
• Every province has a chief town and a countryside with its own raw goods
• Let workshops process raw goods and trade them on the markets
• Borrow from Italian banking houses and the Hanse, but pay them back
• Grow villages into towns and towns into metropolises

Secure your dynasty
• Arrange marriages, forge alliances and call your allies to arms
• Face plague, uprisings, heresy and disputed thrones
• Hundreds of events with their own pictures, from the Hundred Years' War to the Hussite Wars

Faith and culture
• Many peoples and faiths with their own dress, towns and ruler portraits
• Pilgrimages, processions and matters of faith
• Tolerance or conversion: you decide how to treat minorities

Progress through the ages
• A research tree from the late Middle Ages to the Renaissance
• New buildings, better roads, and later gunpowder and cannon

Easy to learn
• A monk adviser guides you through your first year
• A short tutorial of about eight minutes and an extended campaign
• Four game speeds and pause, so you can decide in your own time
