Description
As a Live-Aboard I wanted to create something anyone could use for learning, as well as for those rainy days when going out to sea is difficult but you still want to sail. The simulator was created to provide sailing knowledge in a fun and intuitive way. The main goal is to have fun and learn something along the way. Hopefully that goal is being achieved with every update i make to the simulator.

SailSim applies actual physics to simulate the behavior of a sailing vessel. This means you can actually capsize or sink a vessel if you are not careful. In some cases the sailing simulator can even reproduce unpredictable results based on your actions, selected parameters and conditions. The visuals are meant not to be too serious where it doesn't matter as much (Environment in specific) but playful and fun.
I spend a great deal of time on the physics of the simulator where a vessel can receive up to 40 or more forces dynamically at the same time, so the vessels are not just bumbling around but are actually getting the forces you would get in real life (mostly since nothing is perfect).
Although by no means this should be considered as an exact replication of the actual sailing process, it does provide things you shall encounter when you step on any boat. If learning is not your thing, it is very addictive to just play with physics when the wind is howling outside and you have nothing better to do.
Some controls and reactions of the sailing vessels in this simulator have been set intentionally in an awkward way and not as a typical Sailing Game would do it. This is done to try and replicate what you shall encounter when controlling a sailboat by yourself.
I am having a blast developing this as an ongoing project. Spend lots of sleepless nights just because the specific environment or function is just too fun to stop making. Hopefully others will appreciate the work that is made by just one man on a small boat at sea :)
⭕ Make sure you update to the latest available version as i fix bugs and release fixes and new functions as i go.
✴ Since i do not have the resources to check the simulator on older devices, if your device is older than 2 - 3 years, the simulator might not work properly. Unsupported older devices may manifest faults as broken texturing or in general the look of the simulator will not be as in the screenshots.

A wonderful simulator with a lot to learn, actually. I am doing my skipper courses right now and the tests in Sail Sim are actually very useful if you want to freshen up before an exam. Spent a lot of time in the challenges as well and am I having a blast. One thing to note, marine terminology is very particular so if your first language isn't English, I suggest reading the questions in the tests very carefully. 5 Stars from me.

The developer is active. There's a huge issue I was having with it and the developer worked with me for about 2 or 3 days to actually resolve it when sail sim was not supposed to actually be available for my device. The only area in which I think could use improvements is possibly a better explanation of the controls, or maybe that could be in a lesson later on, and maybe the better indication of what question you got wrong, so you know where to study. It accomplishes what it sets out to do.

So obviously this should be an early access title. I'll just state the main problem I had as it made it unplayable: the water starts disappearing as a gray area expands from under the boat until all the water is gray, and you can't see anything. I think it might have to do with wave generation, but I have no idea. Good luck!

Says free on app store, but raising your sail in game requires either a subscription or one time cost purchase. Absolute ripoff.

Not worth $3 USD just to see if it sails well and works. Needs to include sails as well in free version with ads. Will uninstall after I get my money back

The game never sent a permission request, it simply said "please exit the game and re-launch and accept the permission request" or words to that effect. When re-launched, no request. Tried in phone settings to manually set permissions but android settings said "app has not made any permission requests". Android 13, pixel 7 pro. And I've already paid twice to unlock it, of which I'm sure you have a record. So ....... no.

Literally puts buttons over buttons, so you can't complete certain challenges meaning you can move forward with the game good game development has no idea what they are doing when it comes to placement

Edit: It is not how the boat handles in real life, I'm an experienced sailor, and I know how the boat should handle. Your imperfection is that the boat keeps drifting majorly until it reaches its full speed potential under the given circumstances. In reality the boat is also drifting at all times, but the drift reduces to almost 0 when it reaches a minor speed, sth like 0.5kn.
