IMPORTANT NOTE: THIS APPLICATION DOES NOT WORK WITH BUILT-IN CROP APP ON ANDROID VERSION 4.3! (MOSTLY FOUND ON NEXUS DEVICES).
This is an offline (does not require internet connection to work) Optical Text Recognition (OCR) application which can be used to convert text (either English or Russian ONLY!!!!! for now) on a paper to editable digital text on your device. Extracted/converted text can later be edited if required, selected and saved to a clipboard and/or shared via any application installed on the device (e.g. translated with Google translate.) Please read instructions before using the app, especially if you have trouble with getting quality results.
Note: This is my very first app and is also currently in a BETA state, so please let me know if you find any bugs or other issues. Suggestions on improvement are also welcome (aside from design, I know it's bad).
Other info/comments: - Text recognition is based on "tesseract" OCR. - In order to keep app size reasonably small, only English and Russian languages are supported for now. More accurate with offline support compared to text miner and text fairy. (PS, to copy text, use "share" then copy to clipboard. Or if you have a Bluetooth keyboard, ctrl+a then ctrl+c) Pros: Offline support!!!!!!!! Extremely accurate, even with images of older PDF's. Faster than the other OCR apps Doesn't stop me after only a few uses, like text miner. Cons: No cons. I would like to see column recognition like in text fairy, since many pdfs I need for school (I take screenshots of them) are in two columns. But if it would impair accuracy, I can sacrifice a little time. I just have to crop and scan each half of each screenshot separately. Still, that is the main feature it lacks.

Good but not enough languages I recommend another OCR app called OCR Instantly Free which works offline, has a very simple user interface and great accuracy. Plus it supports a huge range of languages!

It was a good app. Was working fine. All of a sudden it stopped processing the pictures. Neither the pictures taken by camera through this app nor from the original camera are processed. Whether you select a picture or click one through this app, none are further processed. Four uninstalls and reinstalls did not solve the problem, because of which I had to permanently uninstall it. It fails totally on reliability.

App works fine, but not useful because I can't Copy text! It is fairly accurate, but it is very difficult to extract the text and copy to a clipboard. I perfect app RUINED by one missing feature... Like a perfectly good car missing a wheel! 5 stars if it is fixed.
