NOTE:
SecureTether does NOT directly support the XBox, PlayStation, or Roku and some other popular devices that don't support VPNs or HTTP or SOCKS proxies (with DNS-over-proxy). With the limitations placed by Android, it is simply not possible to make these devices work without requiring you to root your phone. If you have a computer available, though, you can connect your computer using SecureTether and then share that internet connection over a network cable with consoles or TV boxes using Internet Connection Sharing.
¹ SecureTether uses your phone plan's regular data volume (not the tethering volume) and works without a tethering plan in most cases (some providers detect and block tethering traffic based on traffic content in addition to locking down the phone). Regular data rates apply (which may be zero on an unlimited data plan unless roaming or other charges apply). The free version of SecureTether is limited to around 1Mbps maximum transfer rate after an initial three-week unlimited-speed trial. Speed-limit can be removed with in-app purchase.
² Requires Android v4.1.1+ (Jelly Bean or newer), since Android v4.0.x (Ice Cream Sandwich) does not allow simultaneous operation of WiFi and WiFi Direct.
³ Computers need to be configured, but only using tools that come with Windows / Mac OS / Linux (may require OS installation media or internet in some rare cases). Android client devices require small (less than 0.5 MB) client app that can be downloaded from SecureTether hotspot (i.e. installation does not require internet).
Recent changes: Updated SecureTether for compatibility with Android 10: Android 10 requires apps to have permission to access the device's location to be able to access WiFi Direct (see https://developer.android.com/about/versions/10/privacy/changes#location-telephony-bluetooth-wifi for details). SecureTether does not use, record, or forward this location information in any way, but does need to request this permission now in order to be able to create the hotspot on Android 10 devices.

Great for moments of needing cellular network. I used it for simple needs for my other devices to be able to have a network connection when my phone plan has run out sharing hotspot data. I used it for my friends to have connection when they visit and encounter unexpected bad service. I have downloaded many apps in those times to just try as well that claim to do the same. I couldn't get them to work rather if it was me not understanding the directions or the app itself. But this ÷%\*%$! Works!!!

This is hands down the best cellular data tethering apps on the play store. It may require someone who is more tech-savvy to set up, but the instructions are very clear and easy to follow. I used it to tether data to other Windows and Android devices without having carrier limitations like actually needing to purchase "hotspot" add-on to your monthly bill. The app literally pays for itself and I support this developer 100%. Please keep this app updated, and I will keep using it for years to come.

Header: Dev will never reply to you. Dev is uncontactable=App bugs will never be fixed. Story: Even if you get premium, this app will not release the internet speed cap on your tethered Wi-Fi. I tried tethering my mobile data with 200Mbps of download speed. The tethered Wi-Fi ended up capping at 50Mbps. To give a benefit of doubt, whether a bug or not, I emailed the developer. Well, he never replies. This app's gone to the trash as android updates and new tech/phones release. No more dev support.

I connected my laptop to the Wi-Fi through this app, the next step is to go to a certain site and follow further instructions, the problem is that since I don't have internet on my laptop I can't connect to that site leaving me stuck halfways, I wonder if the people saying that it worked in beginning were just using their hotspot data plan and then when it ran out so did the app stop working. I have a s20 ultra, I pay for 10gb of mobile hotspot which I have used up, this app doesn't seem to work
