The setup is pretty straightforward for me to connect to Durham at my school (UVA). As long as you follow the instructions from your school's Service Desk, you will be fine.

It worked. Kinda lame I have to install sth but im guessing it doesn't do much

This is the type of app people only review when it doesn't work. It worked for me, so I'm leaving a good review 👍

I was forced to download this app to use the new Wi-Fi system at my high school. Despite being 100mb, a waste of space when devices can already connect to the internet without having to download any additional software, it doesn't even work most of the time. The new system is stupid, and tedious compared to other public places that have a similar "log-in to use Wi-Fi" which redirect you to a website and are a lot more forgiving and respectful towards the end user.

Has to keep running in order to stay on the university wireless network, which cuts into the battery and if it crashes, you have to do the annoying 2FA credentials all over again.
