Description
Shadows - Matching Game was designed to be Occupational Therapy tool for young kids struggling with developmental difficulties. Matching shadows with an object is an activity that helps to build visual discrimination - the ability to perceive differences between objects or symbols.
Matching shadow activity was advised by Occupational Therapist to a 3 year old boy diagnosed with Williams Syndrome. It is designed to keep focus of the kid on the activity - elements in the game are purposefully not animated to not distract children and there is no background sound. It's also designed to be engaging but not addictive.
We advise to always accompany kids when they are using the app and to talk with them about what they can see on the screen and help them when they struggle to solve puzzle. It can help improve communication skills and can be helpful in Speech Therapy.
Application can be helpful for kids diagnosed with autism, genetic disorders, williams syndrome, down syndrome, sensory processing disorder and as a part of ABA therapy.
Application offers three levels of exercise accessible via settings: * Level 1: One shadow is presented and two pictures. Child need to grab proper picture, drag it and drop it on the shadow. When dropped correctly kid is rewarded with acceptance sound, shadow change into image and name is displayed - read it with kid to practice speech! * Level 2: Two shadows and two images are presented and kid needs to drag both images to proper shadow. After each successful match kid gets rewarded with same acceptance sound! * Level 3: Three shadows are presented. Max two pictures at one time are displayed at the bottom to be dragged. Line of pictures gets refilled after using one of images till the point all of the shadows are matched with images. Of course with every successful matching comes the sound!
After every wrong attempt of matching child is offered appropriate audio feedback and has to wait for two seconds before trying again. That prevent kids from thoughtless and fast drag&drop.
Game offers four themes of images: vehicles, tools, fruits&vegetables and animals.
Though we advise to always accompany kid while playing the game and using device in general, application offers Close Lock option which makes it much harder for kid to leave the app. Please be warned it makes it harder to leave the app for the parent too.
