Shoal is a relaxing logic puzzle about placing fish on a colourful reef. The rules take ten seconds to learn: put one fish in every row, every column and every colour, and make sure no two fish ever touch, not even diagonally. Mastering it takes a lot longer.
Every board is generated fresh on your phone and has exactly one solution, so you will never run out of puzzles and logic always gets you there. Start with a gentle 6×6 pool and work your way up to a brutal 9×9 reef.
HOW TO PLAY • Tap a square once to place kelp. Kelp means "no fish here". • Tap it again to place a fish. A third tap clears the square. • Drag along a row or column to fill it with kelp in one move. • Finish the board with one fish in every row, column and colour, with no fish touching.
FIVE DIFFICULTY LEVELS • Gentle: a tiny 6×6 pool, perfect for learning the rules • Easy: 7×7 boards where a whole reef sometimes sits in one line • Medium: 8×8 boards where the spacing between fish starts to tell you a lot • Hard: 9×9 reefs you have to reason about in pairs • Brutal: long chains of logic for experienced puzzle solvers
