Comments on SkySafari 7 Plus for Android

★★★★★ Stephen Putnick · Apr 19, 2025

The best star map app out there. Stellarium is amazing too and for desktop it's tellurium. But on mobile, Sky Safari is on another level. If you're not very knowledgeable about astronomy, just know that Sky Safari is widely considered the best.

Love Sky Safari 7 Plus. I use the telescope control with Astro Devices Nexus. The accuracy is incredible. I've seen so many things in the night sky. Notifications re ISS passing overhead and details about objects via the info function is just brilliant.

★★★★☆ Grant Sorenson · Jun 18, 2026

Love this app I use it to navigate my scope with the Electron mount and Wi-Fi module. I also love the ability to see events on the fly and create complex custom observing lists which I use all the time. I would love honestly to upgrade to sky safari 8 plus, but it does not run on my 10-inch Rockwell based android 11 tablet but sky safari version 7 plus does. Come on guys make 8 more compatible with more android based devices I am not going to use it in my small android cellphone.

★☆☆☆☆ Roman Sill · Apr 4, 2025

The website claims it supports a wired connection. There is no option to connect my Electron EQ mount via the USB hand controller to Android (USB-C to Mini) cable I am using. Wi-Fi or Bluetooth only despite what the website claims.

I Don't understand this, on SS6 the moon shows the craters etc. However, on this particular app, the moon is featureless, as in no craters etc., what's up with that, seriously thinking going back to SS6, it's much better That alone, is the reason for 1 ⭐ FIX IT, plain and simple

★★☆☆☆ D.B. Cooper · Dec 24, 2024

For some reason the app is misaligned. When pointing my phone to the sky the objects on the screen are always quite a distance from reality. This makes it quite difficult to identify objects in the sky with the app.

★☆☆☆☆ Ronald Keating · Jul 22, 2026

Don't waste your money on Plus because there is no upgrade path, you'll have to pay full price for Pro. For example, while trying to find an asteroid, I quickly found out that there were many more stars visible in the eyepiece than shown in Plus. So there was no way to determine which was the asteroid. I bought Pro, and it showed everything visible in the eyepiece, and it was easy to ID the asteroid. 1 star, because Plus is a rip off.
