Summary
SkyView Lite is a standout AR stargazing companion for Android that identifies celestial objects in real time. Using your device’s camera, it helps you locate and recognize stars, constellations, planets, and even satellites—day or night—thanks to AR overlays and date/time views.
Pros & Cons
- AR-based object identification for stars, planets, and satellites via camera
- Night mode to preserve night vision
- Sky Paths and Time Travel for date-specific sky views
- Offline operation without reliance on WiFi or GPS
- Social sharing of sky images to engage friends and students
- Established popularity with 10M+ downloads and strong ratings
- Lacks a built-in live sky map or planetarium-style guidance that some competitors offer (based on missing features like 'map' or 'guide' in competitor vocab)
- Fewer astronomy-centric terms (e.g., 'astronomy', 'moon', 'universe') in feature storytelling compared with some competitors
