I opened up the app and got hit with 4 ads back to back lol this is literally unusable

It didn't do anything except mess up the picture. There's some text at the bottom of the picture, but it's too small to actually read, so I have no idea what it said. It doesn't let you edit smiles or do anything they say it lets you do.
