Smudge

Smudge turns your screen into a clean magnetic whiteboard where you assign and track weekly classroom jobs with colorful rectangular tiles. You can quickly create responsibilities like Line Leader or Pencil Sharpener, and each magnet tile displays the job name and student in a playful handwritten marker font. The This Week tab opens to a dashboard with oversized black marker numerals that show total active jobs, completed tasks, and how many roles still need a student. Tapping a tile toggles completion, leaving a faint dry-erase smudge streak across the corner instead of any checkmark. A handy quick-action magnet lets you mark every assignment done for the week in a single press. When it is time to rotate, the Rotate tab offers a bright green button that advances all job dates by seven days, making fair rotation effortless. You can also use that same tab to add a brand new job whenever your classroom needs one. The Roster view automatically builds a student list from current assignments and shows how many jobs each learner holds, with a tap to reveal their specific tasks. In the All Jobs tab, you get a searchable archive of every job across all weeks, where a swipe removes an entry and a tap opens editing. All your classroom data lives solely in local storage on your device, so it stays private, works offline, and requires no accounts. The layout mimics a real whiteboard with an aluminum frame and a marker tray at the bottom, with four dry-erase marker tabs that appear uncapped when active. Smudge gives homeroom teachers, elementary educators, and substitute teachers a tactile, distraction-free way to manage student responsibilities. The smudged completion cue feels natural and satisfying, just like wiping a real whiteboard clean. You can walk into any classroom, check the board, and keep the week’s routines running smoothly.
