Description
SoloTuner: hear the string, not the noise
SoloTuner is a chromatic guitar tuner and string instrument tuner that tries not to get in your way. Solo here means one clear job: help you find pitch, not a wall of lessons, tabs, or extras. The chromatic tuning gauge always works accurately: it shows how close you are in cents to the nearest semitone in range, whichever detection mode you pick. That full chromatic behaviour is part of the app. Note and cents tuning is not something we treat as a separate "unlock". You also get a large, easy-to-read display, a string row you can slide across like a little fretboard, and a choice of how the app detects pitch (multiple pitch detection modes, each with its own advantages and disadvantages).
Detection modes
There are two main pitch detection modes available. We hope to offer more in future updates. Typical pitch ranges and the fuller explanation are in About.
Fast: detects a little sooner and feels more reactive on the gauge. The trade off is a narrower reliable working range than Balanced. Balanced: for everyday tuning, more reliable for most sessions, a wider usable range, and a little less snappiness than Fast.
Visual Guide: The string row dynamically highlights the target string and tracks the detected pitch with an indicator, making it easy to see which way to turn the tuning pegs.
Make it yours
Set the reference A (A4) pitch in Settings. 440 Hz is the usual default, but you can fine-tune it to match orchestra, studio, or band practice (conductors and sections often agree on a specific A). Choose an instrument and tuning from the catalogue, star favourites, or build custom tunings if you string things differently. Perfect for standard setups or alternate tunings like Drop D, Drop G, and open chords. No account needed. Your choices stay on your phone between sessions.
Nice touches
Acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass guitar, ukulele, violin, viola, cello, and double bass setups available from Settings. Slide across the string row on the main screen to hear the tuning in context. Mute the mic from the instrument tuner when you're finished. No ads included. If that changes later, we'll say so clearly in the app and in our privacy policy. Link at the bottom of About.
Note names use the usual A to G letters on screen in every language.
Day to day
Stage, sofa, or rehearsal: open, listen, tweak, done. We're not trying to be an all in one "learn guitar" hub; we're trying to be a precise guitar tuner you reach for without thinking — yet intuitive enough if you are still learning.
Microphone behaviour
The mic is for tuning. If you switch apps, screens, or the phone sleeps, it turns off automatically and resumes when you return. Give the readout a moment to settle; that's normal.
Tips for stable tuning
Quieter space, fresher strings, and holding the phone closer to the instrument all help.

We'd like to offer more listening options for different situations, keep polishing the modes you already have, and grow the instrument catalogue over time.
