Speech Assistant AAC is a text-to-speech (TTS) app designed for people who are speech impaired, for example due to Aphasia, MND/ALS, Autism, Stroke, Cerebral Palsy or other speech problems.
With the app you can create categories and phrases, which are placed on buttons. With these buttons you can create messages that can be shown or spoken (text-to-speech). It is also possible to type any text using the keyboard.

Fully Customizable • The size of the buttons, the textbox and the text can be adjusted. • The app has various color schemes and you can also create a personal color scheme. • Give the individual buttons with phrases different colors.
Full screen • Show your message full screen with a very large font. • Useful for communicating in a noisy environment. • Button to rotate the text to show your message to the person opposite of you.

Voices The voice is not part of the app, but the app uses the voice installed on your device. For example, you can use one of the voices from 'Speech Services by Google'. It has female and male voices in many languages. If it is not available on your device, you can download it from the Google Play Store. You can change the selected voice in the voice settings of the app.
Full version The basic version of the app is free. In the settings of the app you can upgrade to the full version. I am unable to speak due to neurological condition and this app is amazing. It lets me type freely, show or have my messages read aloud, share messages written on WhatsApp, save reorder and delete phrases, create categories, even have different profiles. The option to have multiple tabs is extremely helpful when conversations move on too fast, and I can answer multiple questions without losing my train of thought. I purchased the full version, and it is worth every penny.

Your fellow ADHD + DID system! We downloaded this app because we have laryngitis rn and wanted a way to communicate without destroying our voice, and this was by far the best app! If we ever go nonverbal due to stress or simply a mute alter fronting, we'll defo use this AAC. Simple, easy to use, clear and versatile: it's generally very good. We've only had Spoken and Speech Assistant; we prefer the latter. You get all the necessities 4 free, and can pay for more "luxury" feats :]

Cannot get it to translate into a different language, it only repeats the English word with the selected accent. (ie Blue with a Japanese accent, instead of the Japanese word for blue)

Being mute, I depend on better than average TTS apps. This is one app that falls within the average range. It does the job just not like I have on other devices. The voice sounds more like a cartoon voice than a real human. Nobody at Google or any tech-savvy friends are able to correct that. I've had this app more than 10 years and in that time this issue has never been addressed. On my other devices I have realistic voices with various accents. So it is achievable.
