The sun is sinking into an orange sky and you are already up on the board. Hold your thumb down and you carve up the face of the wave; lift it and you drop towards the coral. Ahead, two torches burn on a bamboo gate, and the gap between them sways with the beat. You time the drop, slip through dead-centre, and the word PERFECT flashes over the water.
Swell Beat is a one-touch surfing game about rhythm. Every reef gate moves in time, so you ride by feel rather than by reflex. Thread the gap cleanly and your combo builds; every four perfects in a row lifts the score multiplier. Keep clear of the foaming lip above and the reef below, or it is a wipeout.
SUNSET POINT Mellow sets at 96 beats per minute. Five sessions to learn how the gates breathe, with three shells drifting along each wave for anyone who wants a little extra.
CORAL REEF The swell quickens to 112 BPM over the reef. The pink jellyfish that first drifted in at Sunset Point gather more thickly, and a sting ends the ride, so you steer round them while still chasing the beat.
BIG WAVE BAY Heavy beats at 128 BPM and big drops. The final five sessions ask for steady nerves and clean lines all the way to Endless Summer.

THE SURF LOG Your longest Dawn Patrol rides, recent sessions and twelve stickers, such as Hang Ten for a ten-gate perfect combo.
