Description by Ap Runner(from Google Play)
In 2021, a video game retailer's stock went from around $20 to over $483 in a matter of weeks. The people who pushed it up were the ones who had been selling it. Can you work out how that happens?
There is a whole world of stock market stories that has nothing to do with charts or balance sheets — the kind you want to repeat to someone. Why did the New York Stock Exchange shut for four months in 1914? Why did a company whose shares had doubled on a hit game fall 17.7% in a single day? This app collects those "what happened to the share price next" moments as three-choice quizzes.
No chart reading. No stock picking. You do not need a brokerage account, and you do not need to have ever bought a single share.
[1] Thirty seconds a question. One stage fits in a queue.
A stage is five questions. There is no jargon to memorise — you read, you think "huh", you move on. It fits a train ride or the few minutes before you sleep, and it always stops somewhere sensible.
[2] The story keeps going after you answer
Every question comes with an explanation. Right or wrong, what follows is the background: "and here is the part that makes it strange". That is the best bit, so try not to stop at the answer.
[3] Eight areas, evenly covered
Market events, bubbles and manias, companies and shareholders, indices and statistics, how markets work, investor psychology, markets around the world, words and history. Questions are drawn evenly across all eight so it never becomes a parade of crashes — you get the machinery and the origins of the words too.
[4] Three difficulty levels
Apprentice, Dealer and Master. Start at Apprentice if the stock market is new to you, or at Master if you follow the markets already. Either way, you clear one stage at a time.
[5] Works without a signal
Every question is stored in the app. Open it on the underground or on a plane without thinking about your connection.
[6] Sixteen languages
Playable in sixteen languages including English, Japanese, Korean, Chinese and German. Reading the same question in another language turns up something new.
Who it is for
- People who follow economic news but find the expert commentary heavy going - People who like trivia and want more to talk about - People curious about the stock market with no idea where to start - People who have opened an investing book and closed it three pages in
Please note
This is a trivia quiz app. It does not recommend particular stocks or strategies, and it is not intended as a basis for investment decisions. The events it covers are presented as things that actually happened in the markets.
Start with one stage — just five questions. The year the exchange closed for four months is in there somewhere.
