Strange Skies

Strange Skies is an offline field guide to 14 rare and unusual atmospheric phenomena, from red sprites above thunderstorms and fire whirls to frost-born formations such as hair ice.

Browse the Anomaly Index to discover what witnesses observe, where each phenomenon appears, what conditions trigger it, how long it lasts, and how difficult it is to encounter. Every entry has a unique Rarity Index from 1 to 100.

Search anomalies by name or trigger and filter the catalog by storm-born, sun-lit, moon-lit, wind-born, frost-born, or fire-born phenomena. Sort entries by name, rarity, or the year they were first recorded. Star interesting anomalies and filter the index to show only your favorites.

Open a Field Note to explore an anomaly across three sections covering the sighting, its readings, and your personal notes.

Rarity Duel turns the Rarity Index into an endless higher-or-lower challenge. Compare two anomalies and decide which one is rarer. Correct answers extend your streak, while a wrong answer ends the run. Choose which anomalies are allowed into your personal duel deck.

Field Test offers twelve questions per session based on information from the catalog. Answer questions about phenomenon families, triggering conditions, duration, and historical records, then review every question and your mistakes after completing the test.

Your stars, margin notes, duel selection, best Rarity Duel streak, and best Field Test score are stored locally on your device and remain available the next time you return.

Strange Skies combines atmospheric phenomena, rarity comparisons, personal notes, favorites, quizzes, and discovery tools in one compact offline field guide.
