SWISSDIAG PRO – OBD2 Scanner

Check engine light on? Inspection coming up? SWISSDIAG PRO is an OBD2 scanner for Android: it reads your car's standard OBD2 fault codes and explains the generic codes: more than 9,500 codes described in English, French and German, offline.

Without a purchase
• Confirmed and pending standard OBD codes with their states, engine warning light (MIL); "Google ↗" link under each standard OBD code, on request, without the VIN.
• "Ready for the inspection? (OBD part)" before the inspection: a three-colour verdict; without exhaust gas measurement; the same with or without PRO; only the inspector decides.
• Fault reported by a control unit outside standard OBD: stated, codes counted (list with PRO); the result is then never green.
• Before buying a used car: a neutral verdict on three levels and six criteria (recently cleared codes, permanent codes, warning light, self-tests, other control units, VIN); you know what to ask the seller.
• Diagnostic as a gift, once: the first scan with such codes lists them as with PRO.
• Vehicle identified (VIN if it provides it) and confirmed before the scan; overview of the responding control units.
• Essential live data: engine speed, speed, coolant temperature, voltage.
• Garage, one profile per VIN; demo mode; metric or imperial units.

With the PRO licence
• Codes of the other control units (active or stored faults, depending on vehicle and protocol): as read, without description, "Google ↗" link for SAE codes.
• Clear the standard OBD codes (mode 04), only with a read standard OBD code: vehicle stationary and engine off checked, PDF saved first; the vehicle's answer shown. Clearing does not repair the cause.
• Permanent codes (mode 0A), counted without a purchase.
• PDF reports in the app language: diagnostics (VIN masked), "Pre-purchase check", before clearing, trip, Live Snapshot.
• Full live data: up to 53 OBD parameters, four charts; status by system, for guidance only.
• Trips (vehicle connected, app in the foreground): GPS track without a basemap, speed, altitude, CSV; Black Box (5 min before, 2 min after a trigger).
Licence verified online: open the app with an Internet connection at least once every 30 days (14-day grace period), as long as the purchase remains valid with Google Play.

Compatibility
OBD-II/EOBD vehicles on CAN and classic protocols (ISO 9141/KWP2000: experimental); results depend on the vehicle, model year, protocol, control units and adapter. Other control units (outside standard OBD) are partly read, read-only (11-bit CAN, 29-bit experimental; J1850 VPW for some vehicles), codes listed with PRO. "ELM327 v1.5" clones: reading often incomplete.

Data
The VIN, locations, trips, captures and reports stay on the device. Only two transmissions go to the SWISSDIAG server in Switzerland: with PRO, the purchase verification and, after a completed scan of a confirmed vehicle, an anonymous discovery report (including make, model, control units, fault codes), without the VIN, number plate, location, time or any identifier of the device or account. Nothing is sent without explicit consent; declining removes no function.

Known limits
A diagnostic aid, neither an inspection nor a guarantee: it does not replace the manufacturer's documentation, the warning lights or a professional. With no code shown, a fault is still possible. The only command that changes the vehicle is code clearing (mode 04); no coding or reprogramming. USB, DoIP, CAN FD and J1939 not supported; OBD over UDS only (J1979-2) not read. Do not operate while driving.

Recent changes:

Five new languages: Italian, Spanish, Dutch, Polish and Portuguese (screens, user guide, legal texts, PDF reports; the 1,460 or so most common codes described in the language, the others in English), following the phone language or chosen in Settings. Trip: the "Significant fuel trim" alert follows the 30-second average with a warm engine and no longer reacts to brief peaks. Garage: the year is chosen from the model's years, or "Other year…".
