Tanukeys

Hear a note. Find it on the piano. Appease the creature.

Tanukeys is an ear-training game for all ages. A mythical creature appears and sings a note. Answer it on the piano: every key you press rings out, but only the true note reaches the creature. Get it right enough times and the creature is yours to keep.

LEARN TO HEAR MUSIC, ONE STEP AT A TIME
• Start with the white keys in one octave, from middle C up
• Then the black keys, and short songs of two and three notes
• Then two notes at once, and real chords: major, minor, augmented, diminished and sevenths, each played note by note before it rings together
• The board widens as you go, up to three octaves around middle C
• Tap the tuning fork to hear middle C whenever you need a starting point
• On the early stages, a wrong note tells you whether to go higher or lower

RECORDED INSTRUMENTS
The creatures sing with recorded instruments, grander the rarer they are: a digital piano, a Steinway grand piano, a ukulele, a harp and, for the legendary ones, a church organ. Your keys play the digital piano.

PLAY ON YOUR OWN PIANO
Connect a digital piano or keyboard with a USB cable (USB-MIDI) and its keys play the game. A tablet may need a USB-C or OTG adapter.

153 CREATURES FROM MYTHS AROUND THE WORLD
Dragons, spirits, sea serpents and legends from folklore across the globe, each with its own anime-style illustration and a line of lore. Common creatures turn up everywhere; rare, epic and legendary ones wait higher up the ladder. Appease a creature often enough and it gives up its musical instrument. Find five, and your Songbook shows it playing. Choose any creature you have appeased to greet you on the home screen and cheer you on.
